About Type Matchup Quiz: Our Mission & Vision
Learn about TypeMatchupQuiz.com: our mission is to provide free, high-quality Pokémon type practice, base stat drills and favorite rankings for casual fans and competitive players. Discover why it was built and future plans.
Welcome to TypeMatchupQuiz.com, a fast, focused way to master type effectiveness through active recall and quick-fire quizzes.
This site was built by me: Joshua (aka shudude), a solo developer and lifelong fan of Pokémon games. Ever since I first encountered Pokémon's type systems, I've been fascinated by the strategic depth they offer, especially when it comes to understanding the complex web of type strengths, weaknesses, resistances, and immunities.
Why I Built This
While there are plenty of resources out there showing type charts, I found they weren’t enough. I wanted something interactive, frictionless, and designed for real learning: not just flan card memorization.
TypeMatchupQuiz was created as a personal tool to help myself and others internalize what I call the “type network.” Instead of passively reading a chart, this site helps you actively recall, test, and refine your knowledge: all while tracking your improvement over time.
Whether you're a competitive battler sharpening your skills or a casual fan looking to better understand how things work, this platform is made for you.
A Fan-Made Project
Type Matchup Quiz is a fan-made educational tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo, Game Freak, The Pokémon Company, or any official entity.
Any references to Pokémon types, game mechanics, or concepts are used for educational and celebratory purposes under fair use. All trademarks and copyrights remain the property of their respective owners.
What’s Next?
I have a lot of ideas in the pipeline, including:
- New quiz modes, such as:
- Generation-specific questions
- “Reverse” quizzes (guess the type based on its interactions)
- Themed quizzes for common type pairings
- Additonal performance stats to identify your strengths and weaknesses
- A mobile-optimized experience, and potentially a standalone mobile app
- A type network visualization and discussion of geometric relationships like type triangles
- Community features and expanded customization
Your feedback will help shape what comes next: so don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for being here.
I hope this project helps you grow your understanding of type matchups and makes the learning process fun, fast, and satisfying.
